So it’s probably safe to assume that everyone saw the Super Bowl commercials. There were some great commercials this year all trying to take the conversation around their brand online with QR codes, shazam, URLs, and hashtags. I guess we can call all these call to actions the start of the Social TV trend.
One that stuck out to me in patictular was Bud Light’s new Platinum beer commercials. The commercials were ok, but what stood out to me was the use of the #MakeItPlatinum hashtag which encouraged people to tweet about the beer. Since I work in Social Media I like to see how brands execute their campaigns. So I jumped to twitter to check out the #MakeItPlatinum hashtag. A lot of people were talking about the beer but to my surprise there was no Bud Light interaction with these tweets, and what surprised me more was that this was because there was no Bud Light Platinum twitter account.
Today Feb. 9th 2011 it seems that facebook pushed out an update to how we view pictures in feeds, and on recently tagged photos in profiles. Before when you clicked on a picture you were taken to that pictures photo page where you could comment, tag or like a picture. Now when you click on a photo it takes over your screen and allows you to comment, tag or like a picture without leaving the page you were at.

This seems like a cool little improvement to how photos are handled in facebook.
Questions?
Is this working on your facebook account?
What do you think of this improvement?
These past two weeks there have been two new web startups to hit the web scene and gain a lot of buzz. Flavors.me and About.me are companies that allow users to create a personal homepage to display links to all their profiles across the internet. Seems like a cool new idea……… Wait I thought of this company 2 YEARS AGO!!!!!
Today with the announcement of new Facebook Places Deals, we are blessed with updates to iPhone and Android apps.
Here is a quick look at the new iOS app.
(Facebook 3.3.1 for iOS)

On October 26th Gowalla launched a handful of new features. I was thinking about gowalla all day and being that @iheartpoon and I are avid gowalla fans I came to a conclusion at the bar after I checked in on gowalla.

Who do you think will win this battle to be the leader in location services?
So we all hate when we “like” or comment on a friends status on facebook and throughout the day we get 20 plus notifications sent to your mobile device or email. I know a lot of times people won’t “like” or comment on someones status just because they don’t want to be bugged all day.
Today while chatting with a friend on facebook I noticed a little redesign.
Before facebook chat used to look like the picture below The person who you are chatting with would have their photo at the top, and while you chat it would just show the persons name and for your messages it would say “me.”
Ok so I run a Facebook and Twitter community for my family’s farm. I’m promoting green and red chile which we are going to be selling online. Today I posted a blog post that someone else wrote about our farm. In the comments on Facebook a local competitor posted a message promoting their own website and farm. (See post here: New Mexico Green Chile Facebook Fan Page )
Question: Being that it is my Facebook Page and I specifically made it to promote our own website should I be able to delete the users comment?

So allot of us are probably seeing the hype today about the upcoming movie “The Social Network” the Facebook story. Let me first say that even though I check Facebook about 30 times a day I still somewhat dislike the company. Not so much because of how the site works but more because of the origins of the company. We all probably know the story about how facebook got started and how Zuckerberg “borrowed” the idea from ConnectU. (here is a good timeline of events on the origin of facebook and ConnectU. http://bit.ly/9MWEWF ) I see myself as an entrepreneur and hope one day to start my own web company. So seeing where I come from the whole Facebook past rubs me the wrong way.
